Electrical fitters Job description
Routes, wires, assembles and installs electrical and electronic components in a mobile truck system and fixed or gantry rail systems, such as main junction and terminal boxes, main control switch panels and CCTV cameras, according to specifications, using jig boards, hand tools/power tools, (drills, etc.) and other equipment: Reads drawings and on occasions, schematics to specifications, to determine established assembly methods.
Cuts wire to specified lengths, using wire cutters.
Cuts plastic sleeves and slips sleeves over wire ends to insulate connections.
Crimps terminal eyelets and lugs to wire ends, using hand or machine crimping device.
Routes, ties and attaches wire to terminal points, according to layout, using hand tools.
Connects wiring to accessories, such as relays, circuit breakers, plugs, switches and solenoids and installs accessory assemblies in electrical or electronic units, using hand tools.
Conducts functional and continuity tests of electrical assemblies, components, wire harness, and plugs, using ohmmeter, test lights and other electrical testing instruments.
Working with 240v and 415v experience, also working with Cat5 cable would be advantageous.
Accountable to the Team Leader, the Electronics Technician will be responsible for a variety of production tasks over a wide product range. He/she will be responsible for the manufacture and test of a variety of products and assist in the implementation of processes and tooling/test equipment to support reliable and cost effective manufacturing.
- Wiring up vehicles, making modifications
- Installing and repairing electrical and electronic equipment such as ignitions, alarms, immobilisers, tracking devices, electric windows, mirrors, seats, air-conditioning, customised LED or neon lighting kits, parking warning systems, and reverse cameras.
- Following wiring diagrams and schematic drawings
